OpenSheep

Play Sheep in your browser

OpenSheep runs here as opensheep.wasm on the gasm runtime: the same engine as on the desktop, with the graphics, levels, movies and music read from your own Sheep CD. Nothing from the game is on this site, and nothing you pick leaves your computer.

What you need

  • The Sheep CD for Windows (Mind's Eye / Empire, 2000), as a disc in a drive, a mounted disc image, or a folder you copied it to.
  • A recent Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. The browser can copy the game's files (about 490 MB) into its private storage for this site once, so later visits start at once.
  • A mouse, the keyboard or a gamepad.

Your CD

Pick the folder that holds Sheep.exe, main.xp and Data: the CD itself (/Volumes/SHEEP, drive D:) or a copy of it.

Your saves

The settings, save slots and best times are kept in this browser.

To move them to another browser or computer. The zip holds one file per save, as the desktop version keeps them (<data folder>/gasm/opensheep, e.g. ~/Library/Application Support/gasm/opensheep on macOS), so it works both ways. Importing replaces the saves with the same names and keeps the others.

Controls

The original's defaults. The game starts with the keyboard: to play with the mouse, press M in a level or choose it in the options. In a level, M, K and J switch to the mouse, the keyboard and a pad. More in Controls.

With the mouse controller the mouse is captured (click the game if the line above says so); Esc releases it. Holding Esc for a second stops the game.
